Today I needed to pickup my Monthly Parking Pass at the Overtown Station. There is just no way to do this AND catch the 8:23 train out of MIA or the 8:32 out of the Metrorail Transfer Station. I got to the Overtown Station at 8:05 went to window number 6 and paid the $11.25 for the parking pass. I went back to the train platform and waited for the next train. The Green train just pulled out when I got to the platform. I waited 4 minutes for the next Orange train. If the next train had been Green, I would have gone to the Metrorail Station. Since it was Orange I went to MIA and needed to wait for the 9:23am train and will get to work around 10:00am
Yesterday, I decided to drive to work on my first day back from a 10 day family vacation. This was a big mistake. I95 was closed at Ives Dairy Road due to a fatal car accident. It took me 3 hours to get to the office. Waze did not find any good solutions, I was stuck in the express lanes when the traffic came to a complete stop.
As a result, there was lots of talk at the office about the traffic and trains. Someone reminded me that you can drink Alcohol on the Long Island Railroad. It would be a nice addition to the Tri-Rail service to have a bar service, it would certainly make for a more pleasant ride home to be able to purchase a drink on the train.
